Watsonia and Tritoniopsis are both genera of the Iris family. Nine Watsonia species and four Tritoniopsis species (mountain pipes) grow in the reserve of farm 215. The Watsonias are most striking after a fire when these bulbs cover vast stretches of the landscape in a purple or red-orange carpet. This can be seen in the pictures to the right: the W. coccinea covering the flats, the W. borbonica covering the mountain slopes and the W. zeyheri the moister parts in the mountain catchments. Watsonias and mountain pipes are common. None of the bulb plants pictured on this page is considered threatened.
