Over 60 fynbos species growing in the reserve of farm 215 are listed on the so-called Red Data list of the IUCN as "critically endangered", "endangered", "vulnerable" or "near-threatened". The Gladiolus Overbergensis is a truly local Southern Overberg plant. It only occurs in the coastal stretch between Hermanus and Cape Agulhas and only flowers after fire. No photograph of this plant existed before the great Overberg Fire of February 2006. The Moraea Barnardii is a slender plant which can only accidentally be spotted in the field. It occurs in two restricted areas in the Overberg and is "critically endangered".
