Twelve Leucadendron (Cone- bush) species occur in the reserve of which five are red data species: The endangered Leucadendron elimense, L. laxum and L. modestum and the vulnerable Leucadendron linifolium and L. coniferum. The Leucadendron elimense (Elim conebush) is a key species of the so called Elim Fynbos, an endangered vegetation type endemic to the Southern Overberg. The soil typical for Elim fynbos is now mostly used for agricultural purposes. Only disconnected remnants remain, the largest near the village of Elim. Of the four Leucospermum (Pincushion) species, both the Leucospermum prostratum and the L. pendunculatum are Overberg endemics.
