The Iris-family (Iridaceae) is represented with 70 different species in the fynbos-reserve of farm 215 and is the family with the largest geophyte-representation in fynbos. Many of the cultivars grown for the cut-flower trade are from the Iris-family. In spite of the fact that Gladiolus comes in a huge variety of colours, the common name is "Afrikaner". Twelve Gladiolus species grow in the reserve of farm 215. Moraea is a genus which is exclusive to Africa. Fifteen Moraea species grow in the reserve of farm 215. There are nine Watsonia species in the reserve of farm 215.
