The Sugarbird is a fynbos endemic species. This bird with an outrageous long tail feeds mainly on Proteas. The Sunbirds are specialized in harvesting nectar from ericas. The reserve is patrolled by various birds of prey. The call of the Fish eagle can be heard from high in the sky and the threatened Black harrier will only select a pristine fynbos site for its nest and is endemic to Southern Africa. Only a few hundred nesting couples of this very beautiful bird are left. The threatened Blue crane has nesting sites on farm 215 as well.
